Do you ever wonder the rest of your countrymen eats? You’re probably right, chicken is definitely up there (we blame Chickenjoy for that lol) and rice, obviously. duhh? But really, what do pinoy adults usually eat and what is considered a healthy meal?
The country’s Food and Nutrition Research Institute came up with the visual guide called “Pinggang Pinoy” to answer the question of how much should you eat in one meal in order to be healthy.
According to them, to meet daily energy and nutrient needs, a healthy meal for pinoy adults should consist of “Go” or energy-giving food; “Grow” or body-building food; and “Glow” or body-regulating food. It is also advisable to drink at least eight glasses of water every day, and lessen sugary beverages.
To mark the Nutrition Mark, the ABS-CBN Investigative and Research Group looked in to the eating habits of Filipinos, and how much of the food they eat make up “Pinggang Pinoy,” by analyzing data from the Philippine Statistics Authority’s “National and Regional Consumption of Selected Agricultural Commodities in the Philippines 2015-2016.”
